In the name of Allah, Gracious, Merciful.
1Has the story reached you of the overwhelming event?
2Some faces that day will be humiliated.
3Laboring weary.
4They enter the blazing fire.
5They are given to drink of a boiling hot spring.
6No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari1
7Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger.
8Faces that day will be joyful.
9Pleased with their striving.
10In a garden on high.
11Where they shall hear no vanity:
12Therein will be a bubbling spring:
13Therein will be thrones raised on high.
14Goblets placed.
15And cushions set in rows
16And rich carpets spread out.
17Do they not look at the camels how they are made?
18And at the sky, how it is raised high?
19And at the mountains, how they are fixed firm?
20And at the earth, how it is spread out?
21Therefore, give admonition for you are one to admonish.
22You are not one to manage affairs.
23But if any turn away and reject Allah,
24Allah will punish him with a mighty punishment.
25For to Us will be their return;
26Then it will be for Us to call them to account. |

1Hal ataka hadisul gasiyah
2Wujuhuy yauma izin hasiyah
3Amilatun nasibah
4Tasla naran hamiyah
5Tusqa min ainin aniyah
6Laisa lahum taamun ila min dari
7La yusminu wa la yugni minju
8Wujuhuy yauma izin naimah
9Lisayiha radiyah
10Fi janatin aliyah
11La tasmau fiha lagiyah
12Fiha ainun jariyah
13Fiha sururum marfuah
14Wa akwabum mauduah
15Wa namariqu masfufat
16Wa zarabiyu mabsusat
17Afala yanzuruna ilal ibili kaifa huliqat
18Wa ilas samai kaifa rufiat
19Wa ilal jibali kaifa nusibat
20Wa ilal ardi kaifa sutihat
21Fazakir innama anta muzakir
22Lasta alaihim bimusaitir
23Ila man tawala wa kafar
24Fayuaz zibuhul lahul azabul akbar
25Inna ilaina iyabahum
26Summa inna alaina hisa

1. According to Yusuf Ali, “It is a plant,
bitter and thorny, loathsome in smell and appearance, which will neither
give fattening nourishment to the body nor in any way satisfy the burning
pangs of hunger, a fit plant for Hell, like Zaqqum”.
