The Resurrection (Al-Qiyâmah)

In the name of Allah, Gracious, Merciful.

¹No, I swear by the resurrection day;

²And I call to witness the self reproaching spirit.

³Does man think that We cannot assemble his bones?

⁴No, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers.

⁵But man wishes to do wrong in the time in front of him.

⁶He questions: “When is the day of resurrection?”

⁷At length when the sight is dazed.

⁸And the moon is buried in darkness.

⁹And the sun and moon are joined together.

¹⁰That day will man say “Where is the refuge?”

¹¹By no means! No place of safety!

Bismillahi Rahmani Rahim

¹La uqsimu biyaumi qiyamat

²Wa la uqsimu bin nafsil lawamah

³Ayahsabul insanu allan najmaa izamah

⁴Bala qadirina ala an nusa wiya bananah

⁵Bal yuridul insanu liyafjura amamah

⁶Yas alu ayana yaumul qiyamat

⁷Fa iza bariqal basar

⁸Wa kasafal qamar

⁹Wa jumias samsu wal qamar

¹⁰Yaqulul insanu yauma izin ainal mafar

¹¹Kalla la wazar

¹²Before your Lord that day will be the place of rest.

¹³That day will man be told what he put forward and what he put back.

¹⁴No, man will be evidence against himself.

¹⁵And even though he were to put up his excuses.

¹⁶Do not move your tongue concerning the Qur’an to make haste therewith.

¹⁷It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it:

¹⁸But when We have promulgated it, follow you its recital:

¹⁹No, more it is for Us to explain it:

²⁰No, but you love the fleeting life.

²¹And leave alone the hereafter.

²²Some faces that day will beam.

²³Looking towards their Lord;

²⁴And some faces that day will be sad and dismal.

¹²Ila rabbika yauma izinil mustaqar

¹³Yunab baul insanu yauma izin bi ma qad dama wa akhar

¹⁴Balil insanu ala nafsihi basirah

¹⁵Wa lau alqa maazirat

¹⁶La tuharik bihi lisanaka litajalabih

¹⁷Inna alaina jamahu wa quranah

¹⁸Fa iza qaranahu fa tabi quranah

¹⁹Summa inna alaina bayanah

²⁰Kalla bal tuhib bunal ajilah

²¹Wa tazarunal akhirah

²²Wujuhu yauma izin nadirah

²³Ila rabbiha nazirah

²⁴Wa wujuhu yauma izin

²⁵In the thought that some back breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them;

²⁶Yea, when the soul) reaches to the collar bone in its exit.

²⁷And there will be a cry “Who is a magician?”

²⁸And he will conclude that it was the time of parting;

²⁹And one leg will be joined with another:

³⁰That day the drive will be to your Lord!

³¹So he gave nothing in charity nor did he pray!

³²And on the contrary, He rejected truth and turned away!

³³Then did he stalk to his family in full conceit!

³⁴Woe to you, yea, woe!

³⁵Again woe to you, yea, woe!

³⁶Does man think that he will be left uncontrolled?

³⁷Was he not a drop of sperm emitted?

³⁸Then did he become a leech like clot; then did Allah make and fashion him in due proportion.

²⁵Tazunu ayufala biha faqirah

²⁶Kalla iza balagatit taraqi

²⁷Wa qila man raq

²⁸Wa zana anahul firaq

²⁹Wal tafatis saqu bisaq

³⁰Ila rabbika yauma izinil masaq

³¹Fala saddaqa wa la salla

³²Wa lakin kazaba wa tawalla

³³Suma zahaba ila ahlihi yatamat ta

³⁴Aula laka fa aula

³⁵Summa aula laka fa aula

³⁶Ayahsabul insanu ayutraka suda

³⁷Alam yaku nuthfatam mim maniy yiyumna

³⁸Summa kana alaqatan fakalaqa fasawa

³⁹And of him He made two sexes, male and female.

⁴⁰Has not He the power to give life to the dead?

³⁹Fajaala minhuz zaujainiz zakara wal unsa

⁴⁰Alaisa zalika biqadirin ala ayuhyiyal mauta
