The Letter “Q” (Qâf)

In the name of Allah, Gracious, Merciful.

¹Qaf. By the glorious Qur’an.¹

²But they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves. So the unbelievers say: “This is a wonderful thing!

³“What! when we die and become dust shall we live again?. That is a return far from our understanding.”

⁴We already know how much of them the earth takes away: with Us is a record guarding the full account.

⁵But they deny the truth when it comes to them: So they are in a confused state.

⁶Do they not look at the sky above them? How We have made it and adorned it and there are no flaws in it?

Bismillahi Rahmani Rahim

¹Qaf wal quranil majid

²Bal ajbu an ja ahum munzirum minhum faqalal kafiruna haza saiun ajib

³A iza mitna wa kunna turaban zalika rajun baid

⁴Qad alimna ma tanqusul ardu minhum wa indana kitabun hafiz

⁵Bal kazabu bil haqqi lam ma ja ahum fahum fi amrim marij

⁶Afalam yanzuru ilas samai fauqahum kaifa banainaha wa zayanaha wa ma laha min furuj

1. Qaf is also claimed another miracle of the Qur’an which no one else know what it means but Allah. Chances are it is phrase from a language other than Arabic and therefore the did not understand it. But any word used by any prophet of God Almighty has to have a meaning in human terms other than that it is not good for us. As you think about it what is the point for Allah or anybody else to communicate in an incomprehensible word. It is a sounding cymbal.

⁷And the earth We have spread it out and set thereon mountains standing firm and produced therein every kind of beautiful growth.

⁸To be observed and commemorated by every devotee turning to Allah.

⁹And We send down from the sky rain charged with blessing and We produce therewith gardens and grain for harvests;

¹⁰And tall palm trees with shoots of fruit stalks piled one over another.

¹¹As sustenance for Allah’s servants; and We give new life therewith to land that is dead: Thus will be the resurrection.

¹²Before them was denied by the people of Noah, the companions of the Rass, the Thamud

¹³The `Ad, Pharaoh, the brethren of Lut.

⁷Wal arda madadnaha wa alqaina fiha rawasiya wa an batna fihamin kulli zaujin bahij

⁸Tabsirataw wa zikra likulli abdim munib

⁹Wa nazzalna mina samai ma ammu barakan fa anbatna bihi jan nati wa habbal hasid

¹⁰Wan nakhla basiqatil laha talun nadid

¹¹Rizqal lil ibad wa ahyaina bihi bal datam maita kazalikal khuruj

¹²Kaz zabat qablahum qaumu Nuhiw wa ashabur Rasi wa Samud

¹³Wa Aduw wa Firauna wa ikhwanu Lut

¹⁴And the companions of the Wood and the people of Tubba; each one rejected the apostles and My warning was duly fulfilled.

¹⁵Were We then weary with the first creation that they should be in confused doubt about a new creation?

¹⁶It was We who created man and We know what dark suggestions his soul makes to him, for We are nearer to him than his jugular vein.

¹⁷Behold two guardian angels appointed to learn his doings learn and note them, one sitting on the right and one on the left.

¹⁸Not a word does he utter but there is a sentinel by him ready to note it.

¹⁹And the stupor of death will bring truth before his eyes: “This was the thing which you were trying to escape!”

²⁰And the trumpet shall be blown: that will be the day whereof warning had been given.

¹⁴Wa ashabul aikati wa qaumu tub bain kullun kazabar rusula fahaq qawaid

¹⁵Afaayina bil halqil awal bal hum fi labsim min halqin jadid

¹⁶Wa laqad halaqnal insana wa nalamu ma tuwaswisu bihi nafsuhu wa nahnu aqrabu ilaihi min hablil warid

¹⁷Iz yatalaq qal mutalaq qiyani anil yamini wa anis simali qaid

¹⁸Ma yalfizu min qaulin illa ladaihi raqibun atid

¹⁹Wa ja at sakratul mauti bil haq zalika ma kunta minhu tahid

²⁰Wa nufika fis sur zalika yaumul waid

²¹And there will come forth every soul, with each will be an angel to drive and an angel to bear witness.

²²“You were heedless of this; now have We removed your veil and sharp is your sight this day!”

²³And his companion will say: “Here is his record ready with me!”

²⁴“Throw, throw into hell every contumacious rejector!

²⁵“Who forbade what was good, transgressed all bounds, cast doubts and suspicions;

²⁶“Who set up another god besides Allah: throw him into a severe penalty.”

²⁷His companion will say: “Our Lord! I did not make him transgress but he was himself far astray.”

²⁸He will say: “Dispute not with each other in My presence: I had already in advance sent you warning.

²¹Wa ja at kullu nafsim maaha sa I quw wa sahid

²²Laqad kunta fi gaflatim min haza fakasyafna anka gita aka fabasarukal yauma hadid

²³Wa qala qarinuhu haza ma lada yaatid

²⁴Alqiya fi jahannama kulla kafarin anid

²⁵Man nail lilkhairi mutadim murib

²⁶Allazi jaala maal lahi ilahan akhara fa alqiyahu fil azabis sadid

²⁷Qala qarinuhu rabbana ma atgaituhu wa lakin kana fi dalalin baid

²⁸Qala la taktasimu lada ya waqad qadamtu ilaikum bil waid

²⁹“The word changes not before Me and I do not the least injustice to My servants.”

³⁰One day We will ask hell “are you filled to the full?” It will say “are there any more to come?”

³¹And the garden will be brought nigh to the righteous, no more a thing distant.

³²This is what was promised for you for everyone who turned to Allah in sincere repentance who kept his law.

³³“Who feared Allah most gracious, unseen and brought a heart turned in devotion to Him:

³⁴“Enter therein in peace and security; this is a day of eternal life!”

³⁵There will be for them therein all that they wish and more besides in Our presence.

³⁶But how many generations before them did We destroy stronger in power than they? Then did they wander through the land: Was there any place of escape?

²⁹Ma yubad dalul qaulu lada ya wa ma ana bizal lamil lil abid

³⁰Yauma naqulu lijahan nama halim talati wa taqulu hal mim mazud

³¹Wa uzlifatil jannatu lilmut taqina gaira baid

³²Haza ma tuaduna likul li awabin hafiz

³³Man khasyiyar rahmana bil gaibi wa ja a biqalbim munib

³⁴Udkhuluha bisalam zalika yaumul khulud

³⁵Lahum ma yasya una fiha wa ladaina mazid

³⁶Wakam ahlakna qablahum min garnin hum asyad du minhum batsyan fanaq qabu fil bilad hal mim mahis

³⁷Verily, in this is a message for any that has a heart and understanding or who gives ear and earnestly witnesses the truth.

³⁸We created the heavens and the earth and all between them in six days, nor did any sense of weariness touch Us.

³⁹Bear then with patience all that they say and celebrate the praises of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting.

⁴⁰And during part of the night also celebrate His praises and so likewise after the postures of adoration.

⁴¹And listen for the day when the caller will call out from a place quite near.

⁴²The day when they will hear a mighty blast in truth: that will be the day of resurrection.

³⁷Inna fi zalika lazikra liman kana lahu qalbun au alqas sama wa huwa sahid

³⁸Wa laqad halaqnas samawati wal rda wa ma bainahuma fi sitati ayyamiw wa ma masana millugub

³⁹Fasbir ala ma yaquluna wa sabbih bihamdi rabbika qabla tuluis samsi wa qablal ghurub

⁴⁰Wa minal laili fasabihhu wa adbaras sujud

⁴¹Wastami yauma yunadil munadi mim makanin qarib

⁴²Yauma yasmaunas saihata bil haq zalika yaumul khuruj

⁴³Verily, it is We who give life and death; and to Us is the final goal.

⁴⁴The day when the earth will be rent asunder from men hurrying out: that will be a gathering together quite easy for Us.

⁴⁵We know best what they say; and you are not one to ever awe them by force. So admonish with the Qur’an such as fear My warning!

⁴³Inna nahnu nuhyi wa numitu wa ilainal masir

⁴⁴Yauma tasyaq qaqul ardu anhum siraa zalika hasyrun alaina yasir

⁴⁵Nahnu alamu bima yaquluna wa ma anta alaihim bijab barin fazakir bil qurani ma yakafu wajid
