2These are verses of the book that makes clear.
3We rehearse to you some of the story of Moses and Pharaoh in truth for
people who believe.
4Truly, Pharaoh elated himself in the land and broke up its people into
sections depressing a small group among them: their sons he slew but he kept
alive their females: for he was indeed a maker of mischief.1
5And We wished to be gracious to those who were being depressed in the
land to make them leaders and make them heirs.

minhum yuzab bihu abna ahum wa yastahyi nisa ahum innahu kana minal mufsidin
5Wa nuridu annamunna alal lazinas tadifu filardi wa najalahum a im mataw
wa najalahumul warisin

1. Like Ghenhis
Khan whose greatest pleasure in life was to conquer his enemies, seize their
horses and goods, and hear their women crying; Pharaoh’s ploy was to secure
his people and prevent the Israelites from building a strong army of men who
would one day rebel against him. The was not out of mischief, it was sheer
wickedness, a military strategy of cruel proportions. A case for the United
Nations War Crime Tribunal.

6And to establish a firm place for them in the land and to show Pharaoh
and Haman and their hosts at their hands the very things against which they
were taking precautions.2
7And so We sent this inspiration to the mother of Moses: “Suckle thy child
but when you have fears about him, cast him into the river but fear not, nor
grieve: for We shall restore him to you and We shall make him one of Our
apostles.”
8Then the people of Pharaoh picked him up: it was intended that he should
be to them an adversary and a cause of sorrow: for Pharaoh and Haman and
their hosts were men of sin.

6Wa numak kina lahum fil ardi wa nuriya Firaauna wa hamana wa junudahuma
minhum ma kanu yahzarun
7Wa auhaina ila ummi Musa an ardiih fa iza hifti alaihi fa alqihi fil yam
mi wa la tahafi wa la tahzani inna radduhu ilaiki wa jailuhu minal mursalin
8Fal taqatahu alu Firauna liyakuna lahum aduw waw wa hazana in na Firauna
wa Hamana wa junudahuma kanu hatiin

2. It would have
been very easy to accept Haman as Pharaoh’s chief minister, but since it is
difficult to reconcile Mary, the Mother of Jesus, from the tribe of Judah
with Aaron, the brother of Moses from the tribe of Levi. Mary and Aaron
lived several centuries apart and are not even related. Yet the Qur’an makes
them siblings (19:28). Even so it should be difficult to accept Haman as a
contemporary of Moses. The name Haman does appear in the Bible as the
favorite of Ahasuerus King of Persia at the time of Esther (A Jewess) who
became the Queen of Persia (Esther 1).

9And the wife of Pharaoh said: “Here is a joy of the eye for me and for
you: do not slay him. It may be that he will be of use to us or we may adopt
him as a son.” And they perceived not what they were doing!
10And there came to be a void in the heart of the mother of Moses: she was
going almost to disclose him, had We not strengthened her heart so that she
might remain a believer.
11And she said to his sister, “Follow him.” So she watched him in the
character of a stranger and they knew not.
12And We ordained that he refused suck at first until his sister
came up and said: “Shall I point out to you the people of a house that will
nourish and bring him up for you and be sincerely attached to him?”

9Wa qalatim raatu Firauna qurratu ainilli wa lak la taqtuluh asa ay
yanfaana au nat tahizahu waladaw wa hum la yasurun
10Wa asbaha fu adu ummi Musa fariga inkadat latubdi bihi lau la ar rabatna
ala qalbiha litakuna minal muminin
11Wa qalat li uhtihi qussih fabasurat bihi an junubiw wa hum la yasurun
12Wa har ramna alaihil maradia min qablu faqalat hal adul lukum ala ahli
baitiy yakfulunahu lakum wa hum lahu nasihun

13Thus did We restore him to his mother that her eye might be comforted,
that she might not grieve and that she might know that the promise of Allah
is true: but most of them do not understand.
14And when he reached full age and was firmly established, We bestowed on
him wisdom and knowledge: for thus do We reward those who do good.
15And he entered the city at a time when its people were not watching: and
he found there two men fighting, one of his own religion and the other of
his foes. Now the man of his own religion appealed to him against his foe
and Moses struck him with his fist and made an end of him. He said: “This is
a work of evil: for he is an enemy that manifestly misleads!”

14Wa lamma balaga asuddahu was tawa atainahu hukmawwa ilma wa kazalika
najzil muhsinin
15Wa dakalal madinata ala hini gaflatim min ahliha fawajada fiha rajulaini
yaqtatilani haza min siatihi wa haza min aduw wihi fastagasahul lazi min
siatihi alal lazi min aduw wihi fawakazahu Musa faqada alaihi qala haza min
amalis Syaitani innahu aduw wum mudil lum mubin

16He prayed: “O my Lord! I have indeed wronged my soul! Forgive me!” So
Allah forgave him: for He is the often forgiving, most merciful.
17He said: “O my Lord! for that You have bestowed Your grace on me never
shall I be a help to those who sin!”
18So he saw the morning in the city looking about in a state of fear when
behold the man who had the day before sought his help called aloud for his
help. Moses said to him: “You are truly it is clear a quarrelsome fellow!”3
19Then when he decided to lay hold of the man who was an enemy to both of
them, that man said: “O Moses! is it your intention to slay me as you slew a
man yesterday? Your intention is none other than to become a powerful
violent man in the land, and not to be one who sets things right!”

16Qala rabbini zalamtu nafsi fagfirli fagafara lah innahu huwal gafurur
rahim
17Qala rabbi bima anamta alayya falan akuna zahiral lilmujrimin
18Fa asbaha fil madinati ka ifayyataraq qabu fa izal lazis tansarahu bil
amsi yastasrikuh qala lahu Musa innaka lagawiyyum mubin
19Falam ma an arada ayyabtisya billazi huwa aduw wullahuma qala ya Musa
aturidu an taqtulani kama qatalta nafsam bil amsi inturidu illa an takuna
jab baran filardi wa ma turidu an takuna minal muslihin

3. According to the story told by Moses, the
man did not call for Moses’ help. Rather, as good hearted as Moses was, he
saw two Israelites fighting, he did not even perceive the other as the one
he had helped previously, but when one of them uttered the following,
“Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you
mean to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?” Then Moses was afraid, and
thought, “Surely the thing is known.”
(Exodus 2:14)

20And there came a man running from the furthest end of the city. He said:
“O Moses! the Chiefs are taking counsel together about you to slay you: so
get away for I do give you sincere advice.”
21He therefore got away therefrom looking about in a state of fear. He
prayed: “O my Lord! save me from people given to wrongdoing.”
22And when he turned his face towards Madyan, he said: “I do hope that my
Lord will show me the smooth and straight Path.”4
23And when he arrived at the watering in Madyan, he found there a group of
men watering and besides them he found two women who were keeping back their
flocks. He said: “What is the matter with you?” They said: “We cannot water
our flocks until the shepherds take back their flocks: and our father is a
very old man.”5

20Wa ja a rajulum minaqsal madinati yasa qala ya Musa innal mala a
yatamiruna bika liyaqtuluka fahruj inni laka minan nasihin
21Fakharaja minha ha ifay yataraq qab qala rabbi najjini minal
qaumizzalimin
22Wa lamma tawajjaha tilqa a madyana qala asa rabbi ayyahdiyani sawa as
sabil
23Wa lam ma warada ma a mad yana waiada alaihi um matam minan nasi yasquna
wawajada min dunihimum ra ataini tazudan qala ma hatbukuma qalata la nasqi
hatta yusdirarri au wa abuna saikun kabir
|
4. Though a Hebrew,
Moses had at this time not had any personal experience with the God of his
fathers, therefore he fled, for fear of his life. He knew not how to pray or
so it seemed.
5. The women were
seven according to Exodus 2:16 and not two, as Allah and Muhammad are
alleging.

24So he watered their flocks for them; then he turned back to the shade
and said: “O my Lord! truly am I in desperate need of any good that You send
me!”
25Afterwards one of them came to him walking bashfully. She said: “My
father invites you that he may reward you for having watered our flocks for
us.” So when he came to him and narrated the story he said: “Fear not: you
have escaped from unjust people.”
26Said one of them: “O my father! engage him on wages: truly the best of
men for you to employ is he who is strong and trustworthy”.

24Fasaqa lahuma summa tawal la ilaz zilli faqala rabbi inni lima anzalta
ilayya min hairin faqir
25Faja at hu ihdahuma tamsi alas tihya qa at inna abi yaduka liyajziyaka
ajra ma saqaita lana falam ma ja ahu wa qas sa alaihil qasasa qala la takhaf
najauta minal qaumiz zalimin
26Qalat ihdahuma ya abatis tajirhu inna haira manis tajartal qawiyyul amin

27He said: “I intended to wed one of these my daughters to you, on
condition that you serve me for eight years; but if you complete ten years
it will be grace from thee. But I intend not to place you under a
difficulty: you will find me indeed if Allah wills, one of the righteous.”
28He said: “Be that the agreement between you and I: whichever of the two
terms I fulfill, let there be no ill will to me. Be Allah a witness to what
we say.”
29Now when Moses had fulfilled the term and was traveling with his family
he perceived a fire in the direction of Mount Tur. He said to his family:
“Tarry; I perceive a fire; I hope to bring you from there some information
or a burning firebrand that you may warm yourselves.”

27Qala inni uridu an unkihaka ihdab natayya hataini ala an tajurani
samaniya hijaj fa in atmamta asyran famin indik wa ma uridu an asyuqa alaik
satajiduni in saal lahu minas salihin
28Qala zalika baini wa bainak ayyamal ajalaini qadaitu fala udwana alay
wal lahu ala ma naqulu wakil
29Falamma qada Musal ajala wa sara bi ahlihi anasa min janibitturi nara
qala li ahlihim kutsu inni anasu naral laal li atikum minha bikhabarin au
jazwatim minan nari laal lakum tastalun

30But when he came to it a voice was heard from the right bank of the
valley, from a tree in hallowed ground: “O Moses! verily, I am Allah, the
Lord of the worlds.
31“Now do you throw your rod!” But when he saw it moving, as if it had
been a snake, He turned back in retreat and retraced not his steps: “O
Moses!” “draw near and fear not: for you are of those who are secure.
32“Move your hand into your bosom and it will come forth white without
stain and draw your hand close to your side against fear. Those are the two
credentials from your Lord to Pharaoh and his Chiefs: for truly they are a
people rebellious and wicked.”

30Falamma ataha nudiya min sati il wadil aimani fil buqatil mubarakati
minassajarati ayya Musa inni anallahu rabbul alamin
31Wa an alqi ashak falam ma ra aha tahtazzu ka annaha nuw wal la mudbiraw
walam yuaq qib ya Musa aqbil wa la takhaf in naka minal aminin
32Usluk yadaka fi jaibika tahruj baida a min gairi su iwwadmum ilaika
janahaka minar rahbi fazanika burhanani mirrabbika ila Firauna wa mala ih
innahum kanu qauman fasiqin

33He said: “O my Lord! I have slain a man among them and I fear lest they
slay me.
34“And my brother Aaron he is more eloquent in speech than I: so send him
with me as a helper to confirm me; for I fear that they may accuse me of
falsehood.”
35He said: “We will certainly strengthen your arm through your brother and
invest you both with authority so they shall not be able to touch you: with
Our signs you shall triumph, you two, as well as those who follow you.”
36When Moses came to them with Our clear signs they said: “This is nothing
but sorcery faked up: never did we hear the like among our fathers of old!”

33Qala rabbi inni qataltu minhum nafsan fa akhafu ayyaqtulun
34Wa aki Harunu huwa afsahu mini lisanan fa arsilhu maiya rid ayyusad
diquni inni akhafu ayyukaz zibun
35Qala sanasuddu adudaka bi akhika wa najalu lakuma sultanan fala yasiluna
ilaikuma bi ayatina antuma wa manit tabaakumal galibun
36Falamma ja ahum Musa bi ayatina bayyinatin qalu ma haza illa
sihrum muftaraw wa ma samina bihaza fi aba inal aw walin

37And Moses said: “My Lord knows best who it is that comes with guidance
from Him and whose end will be best in the hereafter: certain it is that the
wrongdoers will not prosper.”
38Pharaoh said: “O Chiefs! no god do I know for you but myself: therefore,
O Haman! light me a kiln to bake bricks out of clay and build me a lofty
palace that I may mount up to the god of Moses: but as far as I am concerned
I think Moses is a liar!”6
39And he was arrogant and insolent in the land beyond reason, he and his
hosts: they thought that they would not have to return to Us!

37Wa qala Musa rabbi alamu biman jaa bil huda min indihi wa man takunu
lahu aqibatud dar in nahu la yuflihuz zalimun
38Wa qala Firaunu ya ayyuhal mala u ma alimatu lakum min ilahin gairi fa
auqid li ya hamanu alat tini fajal li sarhal laal li at taliu ila ilahi Musa
wa inni la azun nuhu minal kazibin
39Was takbara huwa wa junuduhu filardi biga ril haqqi wa zannu anahum
ilaina la yurjaun
|
6. The building of a tower in the Bible is the story of the birth of
many languages, a scheme used by God to fulfill His purpose of mankind
replenishing the earth. After the flood, after the death of Noah, his
descendants decided to build a tower which will reach the heavens so that do
not scatter abroad upon the face of the earth. With the birth of the many
new languages, the people became confused, not understanding one another,
their work was abandoned and then they were scattered abroad upon the face
of the earth. The full story of this account is found in Genesis 11:1-9. According to George Sale quoting from Al Zamakhshari;
“It is said
that Haman, having prepared bricks and other materials, employed no less
that fifty thousand men, besides labourers, in the building; which they
carried to so immense a height that the workmen could no longer stand on it;
that Pharaoh, ascending this tower, threw a javelin towards heaven, which
fell back again stained with blood, whereupon he
|

|
impiously boasted that he
had killed the God of Moses; but at sunset God sent the angel Gabriel, who,
with one stroke of his wing, demolished the tower, a part whereof, falling
on the King’s army, destroyed a million of men.”
Whereas the so-called
“Tower
of Egypt” cannot be traced because Egyptians built Pyramids, the Tower of
Babel can be traced. It is located 10 miles southwest of the center of
Babylon. It was built about the time of Peleg, 101 years after the flood and 326 years before the call of Abraham (H. H. Harley pg. 83). It is to be noted
that such historical inaccuracies abound in the Qur’an, which claims to be
infallible.

40So We seized him and his hosts and We flung them into the sea: now
behold what was the end of those who did wrong!
41And We made them leaders inviting to the fire; and on the day of
judgment no help shall they find.
42And in this world We made a curse to follow them: and on the day of
judgment they will be among the loathed.
43And We did reveal to Moses the book after We had destroyed the earlier
generations to give insight to men and guidance and mercy, that they might
receive admonition.
44You were not on the Western side when We decreed the commission to Moses
nor were you a witness.7

40Fa akaznahu wa junudahu fanabaznahum fil yam fan zur kaifa kana aqibatuz
zalimin
41Wa jaalnahum a immatay yaduna ilannari wa yaumal qiyamati la yunsarun
42Wa atbanahum fi hazihid dunya lanah wa yaumal qiyamati humminal maqbuhin
43Wa laqad ataina Musa kitaba mim badi ma ahlaknal qurunal ula basa ira
linnasi wa hudawwa rahmatal la allahum yatazakkarun
44Wa ma kunta bijanibil garbiyyi iz qadaina ila Musal amra wa ma kunta
minas sahidin

7. A famous Ashanti
(Ghanaian) proverb says that “The liar always says that his witness is in
overseas.” Moses was there, at least, and his testimony is in the Bible which
can be verified. Muhammad, on the other hand was not there, and cannot
rectify his version.

45But We raised up (new) generations and long were the ages that passed
over them; but you were not a dweller among the people of Madyan rehearsing
Our signs to them; but it is We who send apostles.
46Nor were you at the side of the Mountain of Tur when We called to Moses.
Yet you are sent as a mercy from your Lord to give warning to a people to
whom no warner had come before you: in order that they may receive
admonition.8
47And if We had not sent you to the Quraish, in case a calamity should
seize them for the deed) that their hands have sent forth, they might say:
“Our Lord! why did You not send us an apostle? We should then have followed
the signs and been amongst those who believe!”

45Wa lakin na ansana qurunan fa tatawala alaihimul umur wama kunta sawiyan
fi ahli maddana tatlu alaihim ayatina wa lakinna kunna mursilin
46Wa ma kunta bijanibit Turi iz nadaina wa lakir rahmatam mir rabbika
litunzira qaumam ma atahum minnazirim min qablika la al lahum yatazak karun
47Wa lau la an tusibahum musibatun bima qad damat aidihim faya qulu
rabbana laula arsalta ilaina rasulan fanat tabia ayatika wa nakuna minal
muminin

8. By all accounts
Muhammad was not the first to preach to the people of Arabia as claimed in
the above. Qur’an 11:50:
“To the `Ad People (We sent) Hud one of their own
brethren ...”
Chapter 11 of the Qur’an is named Hud. As a prophet, he was
sent to A’d in southern Medina which is in Arabia. Shu’aib (Qur’an 29:36)
from Hijaz also preached to the Arabians about monotheism. There were Arab
Christians like Warqa bin Naufal who undoubtedly preached to their own kind.
So to say that the Arab people are a people who had not received any
“warner”
previously is not only wrong but false

48But when the Truth has come to them from Ourselves they say “Why are not
Signs sent to him like those which were sent to Moses?” Do they not then
reject the Signs which were formerly sent to Moses? They say: “Two kinds of
sorcery each assisting the other!” And they say: “For us we reject all such
things!”
49Say: “Then bring a book from Allah which is a better guide than either
of them that I may follow it! If ye are truthful!9
50But if they hearken not to you, know that they only follow their own
lusts: and who is more astray than one who follows his own lusts, devoid of
guidance from Allah? For Allah guides not people given to wrongdoing.
51And now have We caused the word to reach they themselves in order that
they may receive admonition.
52Those to whom We sent the book before this, they do believe in this
revelation;

48Falamma ja ahumul haqqu min indina qalu laula utiya mitsla ma utiya Musa
awalam yakfuru bima utiya Musa min qabl qalu sihrani tazahara wa qalu inna
bikul lin kafiruna
49Qul fatu bikitabim min indillahi huwa ahda minhuma attabihu inkuntum
sadiqin
50Fa illam yastajibu laka falam an namayattabiuna ahwa ahum wa man adal lu
mimmanittabaa hawahu bagairi hudam minallah innallaha la yahdil qaumaz
zalimin
51Wa laqad was salna lahumul qaula laal lahum yatazak karun
52Allazina atainahumul kitaba min qabihi humabihi yuminun

9. Muhammad brought the Qur’an and claims that
he does not know what will be done with him in the hereafter (Qur’an
46:9). Jesus spoke and His words are recorded in a Book in
which He says,
Believe in God and believe also in Me, because in My
Father’s house are many mansions and I am going to prepare a place for you,
and when I am done, I will come back and take you with Me. (John
14:1-3).
The Qur’an says
that if you follow it, you will pass through the fire of hell (19:72),
the Bible says that if you follow it, you will not perish but have life
everlasting (John 3:16). By comparison, you be the judge and decide which of
the two is a better Book.

53And when it is recited to them, they say: “We believe therein for it is
the truth from our Lord: indeed we have been Muslims from before this.”10
54Twice will they be given their reward for they have persevered that they
avert evil with good and that they spend in charity out of what We have
given them.
55And when they hear vain talk, they turn away therefrom and say: “To us
our deeds and to you yours; peace be to you: we seek not the ignorant.”11
56It is true you will not be able to guide everyone whom you love: but
Allah guides those whom He will and He knows best those who receive
guidance.

53Wa iza yutla alaihim qalu aman nabihi innahul haqqu mirrabbina inna
kunna min qablihi muslimin
54Ulaika yutauna ajrahum marrataini bima sabaru wa yadra una bil hasanatis
sayyi ata wa mimma razaqnahum yunfiqun
55Wa iza samiul lagwa aradu anhu wa qalu lana amaluna wa lakum amalukum
salamun alaikum la nabtagil jahilin
56Innaka la tahdi man ahbabta wa lakin nallaha yahdi mayyasya wa huwa
alamu bil muhtadin

10. Is by Muslims
the people who had Book before Muhammad meant that they submitted to God,
Yes. But if by that Muhammad they had followed the religion which he
followed, no. By definition, Islam means submission to the Will of God.
This, the prophets, patriarchs and people of the Bible believe in.
11. In other words,
avoid all appearance of evil. 1 Thessalonians 5:22:
“...keep away from every kind of evil.”

57They say: “If we were to follow the guidance with you we should be
snatched away from our land.” Have We not established for them a secure
sanctuary to which are brought as tribute fruits of all kinds? A provision
from Ourselves? But most of them understand not.
58And how many populations We destroyed which exulted in their life of
ease and plenty! Now those habitations of theirs after them are deserted all
but a few! and We are their heirs!
59Nor was your Lord the one to destroy a population until He had sent to
its center an apostle rehearsing to them Our signs: nor are We going to
destroy a population except when its members practice iniquity.

57Wa qalu innattabiil huda maaka nutakat taf min ardina awalam numak kil
lahum haraman aminay yujba ilaihi samaratu kul li sai ir rizqam mil ladun na
wa lakin na aksarahum la yalamun
58Wa kam ahlakna min qaryatim batirat maisyataha fatilka masakinuhum lam
tuskam min badihim illa qalila wa kunna nahnul warisin
59Wama kana rabbuka muhlikal qura hatta yabatsa fi ummiha rasulayyatlu
alaihim ayatina wa ma kunna muhlikil qura il la wa ahluha zalimun

60The things which you are given are but the conveniences of this life and
the glitter thereof; but that which is with Allah is better and more
enduring: will you not then be wise?
61Are these two alike? one to whom We have made a goodly promise and who
is going to reach its fulfillment and one to whom we have given the good
things of this life but who on the day of judgment is to be among those
brought up for punishment?
62And that day Allah will call to them and say: “Where are my “partners”?
whom you imagined?”
63Those against whom the charge will be proved will say: “Our Lord! these
are the ones whom we led astray: we led them astray as we were astray
ourselves: we free ourselves in Your presence! It was not us they
worshiped.”

60Wa ma utitum min sai in famataul hayatid dunya wa zinatuha wa ma indal
lahi hairuw wa abqa afala taqilun
61Afamaw wa adnahu wa dan hasanan fahuwa laqihi kamam mattanahu mataal
hayatid dunya summa huwa yaumal qiyamati minal muhdarin
62Wa yauma yunadihim fayaqulu aina suraka iyal lazina kuntum tazumun
63Qalal lazina haq qa alaihimul qaulu rabbana ha ula il lazina agwaina
agwainahum kama gawaina tabar rana ilaikama kanu iyyana yabudun

64And it will be said: “Call upon your “partners”: they will call upon
them but they will not listen to them; and they will see the penalty; how
they will wish “If only they had been open to guidance!”
65That day Allah will call to them and say: “What was the answer you gave
to the apostles?”
66Then the whole story that day will seem obscure to them like light to
the blind and they will not be able to question each other.
67But any that had repented, believed, and worked righteousness, will have
hopes to be among those who achieve salvation.
68And your Lord does create and choose as He pleases: no choice have they:
Glory to Allah! and far is He above the partners they ascribe!
69And your Lord knows all that their hearts conceal and all that they
reveal.

64Wa qiladu suraka akum fada’auhum falam yastajibu lahum wa rawul azab lau
an nahum kanu yahtadun
65Wa yauma yunadihim fayaqulu maza ajabtumul mursalin
66Faamiyat alaihumul an ba u yauma izin fahum la yatasa alun
67Fa ammaman taba wa amana wa amila salihan faasa ay ykuna minal muflihin
68Wa rabbuka yahluqu ma yasyau wa yahtar ma kana lahumul hiyarah subhanal
lahi wa taala amma yusrikun
69Wa rabbuka yalamu ma tukin nu suduruhum wa ma yulinun

70And He is Allah: there is no god but He. To him be praise at the first
and at the last: for Him is the command and to Him shall you be brought
back.
71Say: See? If Allah were to make the night perpetual over you to the day
of judgment, what god is there other than Allah who can give you
enlightenment? Will you not then hearken?
72Say: See? If Allah were to make the day perpetual over you to the day of
judgment what god is there other than Allah who can give you a night in
which you can rest? Will you not then see?

70Wa huwal lahu la ilaha il la hu lahul hamdu fil ula wal akhirati wa
lahul hukmu wa ilaihi turjaun
71Qul ara aitum in jaalal lahu alaikumul laila sarmadan ila yaumil
qiyamati man ilahun gairul lahi yatikum bidiya afala tasmaun
72Qul ara aitum in jaalal lahu alaikumun nahara sarmadan ila yaumil
qiyamati man ilahun gairul lahi yatikum bilailin taskununa fih afala
tubsirun

73And it is out of His mercy that He has made for you night and day that
you may rest therein and that you may seek of His grace and in ;order that
ye may be grateful.
74And the day that He will call on them, He will say: “Where are My
“partners” whom you imagined?”
75And from each people shall We draw a witness and We shall say: “Produce
your proof”: then shall they know that the truth is in Allah and the lies
which they invented will leave them in the lurch.”

73Wa mir ahmatihi jaala lakumul laila wan nahara litaskunu fihi wa
litabtagu min fadlihi wa laal lakum taskurun
74Wa yauma yunadihim fayaqulu aina suraka iyal lazina kuntum tazumun
75Wa nazana minkulli um matin sahidan faqulna hatu burhanakum faalimu an
nal haqqa lillahi wa dal la anhum ma kanu yaftarun

76Qarun was doubtless of the people of Moses; but he acted insolently
towards them: such were the treasures We had bestowed on him that their very
keys would have been a burden to a body of strong men: Behold his people
said to him: “Exult not, for Allah loves not those who exult.12
77“But seek with the wealth which Allah has bestowed on you the home of
the hereafter, nor forget your portion in this world: but do good as Allah
has been good to you and seek not occasions for mischief in the land: for
Allah loves not those who do mischief.”
78He said: “This has been given to me because of a certain knowledge which
I have.” Did he not know that Allah had destroyed before him generations
which were superior to him in strength and greater in amount of riches they
had collected? But the wicked are not called immediately to account for
their sins.

76Inna Qaruna kana min qaumi Musa fabaga alaihim wa atainahu minal kunuzi
ma inna mafatihahu latanu u bil usbati ulil quw wati iz qala lahu qaumuhu la
tafrah in nal laha la yuhib bul fari hin
77Wabtagi fi ma atakal lahud daral akhirata wa la tansa nasibaka minad
dunya wa ahsin kama ahsanal lahu ilaika wa la tabgil fasada fil ard
innallaha la yuhib bul mutsidin
78Qala innama utituhu ala ilmin indi awalam yalam annallaha qad ahlaka min
qablihi minal quruni man huwa asyad du minhu quw wataw wa aksaru jama wa la
yus alu an zunubihimul mujrimun

12. Qarun is the same as Korah a Levite, the
son of Izhar, the son of Kohath. His insolence had nothing to do with his
wealth. He, being a Levite had erroneously thought that Moses should not be
the only leader of the people, as a result, together with 250 others leaders
of the people revolted. According to Numbers 16, the earth opened up and
swallowed them up for their punishment.
The moral lesson
here is that God chooses whom He pleases to be His prophet or Priest,
therefore, let no one revolt against such. Any insolence shown to such men
is tantamount to insolence against God. Twice in the ministry of Moses such
demonstration happened with family members as the ring leaders.
In Numbers 12:1-15,
Miriam and Aaron murmured against Moses and God had to strike Miriam with
leprosy. Anyone speaking in the name of the Lord should be respected for
such office. David’s advise is “Touch not the Lord’s anointed.”

79So he went forth among his people in the glitter. Said those whose aim
is the life of this world: “Oh that we had the like of what Qarun has got!
For he is truly a lord of mighty good fortune.”
80And those who had been granted knowledge said: “Alas for you! the reward
of Allah is best for those who believe and work righteousness: but this none
shall attain save those who steadfastly persevere.”
81Then We caused the earth to swallow him up and his house; and he had not
the least little party to help him against Allah nor could he defend
himself.

79Fahraja ala qaumihi fi zinatih qalal lazina yuridunal hayatad dunya ya
laita lana mitsla ma utiya Qarunu innahu lazu hazzin azim
80Wa qalal lazina utul ilma wailakum sawabul lahi hairul liman amana wa
amila saliha wa la yulaq qaha il las sabirun
81Fahasafna bihi wa bidarihil ard fama kana lahu minfi atiy yansurunahu
min dunil lahi wa ma kana minal muntasirin

|
82And those who had envied his position the day before began to say on the
morrow: “Ah! it is indeed Allah who enlarges the provision or restricts it
to any of His servants He pleases! Had it not been that Allah was gracious
to us He could have caused the earth to swallow us up! Ah! those who reject
Allah will assuredly never prosper.”
83That house of the hereafter, We shall give to those who intend not high
handedness or mischief on earth: and the end is for the righteous.
84If any does good the reward to him is better than his deed; but if any
does evil the doers of evil are only punished to the extent of their deeds.
85Verily, He who ordained the Qur’an for you will bring you back to the
place of return. Say: “My Lord knows best who it is that brings true
guidance and who is in manifest error.”

82Wa asbahal lazina taman nau makanahu bil amsi yaquluna waika an nal laha
yabsutur rizqa limay yasya u min ibadihi wa yaqdir laula amman nallahu
alaina lahasafa bina waika annahu la yuflihul kafirun
83Tilkad darul akhiratu najaluha lillazina la yuriduna uluwwan fil ardi wa
la fasadan wal aqibatu lilmut taqin
84Man jaa bil hasanati falahu hairum minha wa man jaa bis sayyiati fala
yujzal lazina amilus say yiati illa ma kanu yamalun
85Innal lazi farada alaikal qurana larad duka ila maad qur rabbi alamu man
jaa bil huda wa man huwa fi dalalin mubin

86And you had not expected that the book would be sent to you except as a
mercy from your Lord: therefore lend not thou support in any way to those
who reject Allah’s Message.
87And let nothing keep you back from the signs of Allah after they have
been revealed to thee: and invite men to your Lord and be not of the company
of those who join gods with Allah.
88And call not besides Allah on another god. There is no god but He.
Everything will perish except His own face. To him belongs the command and
to him will you be brought back. |
86Wa ma kunta tarju ayyulqa ilaikal kitabu illa rahmatam mirrabbika fala
takunan na zahiral lilkafirin
87Wa la yashud dun naka an ayatil lahi bada iz unzilat ilaika wadu ila
rabbika wa la takunan na minal musrikin
88Wa la tadu maal lahi ilahan akhar la ilaha illa huwa kullu sai in
halikun illa wajhah lahul hukmu wa ilaihi turjaun
