In the name of Allah, Gracious, Merciful.

¹T. S. M.

²These are verses of the book that makes clear.¹

³It may be you frets your soul with grief that they do not become believers.

⁴If such were Our will We could send down to them from the sky a sign to which they would bend their necks in humility.

⁵And there comes not to them a newly revealed message from the most gracious but they turn away therefrom.

⁶They have indeed rejected the Message: so they will know soon the truth of what they mocked at!

¹Tua Saa Maa

²Tilka ayatul kitabil mubin

³Laal laka bakhiun nafsaka al la yakunu muminin

⁴Innasya nunaz zil alaihim minas samai ayatan fazal lat anaquhum laha hadiin

⁵Wa ma yatihim min zikrim minar rahmani muhdasin il la kanu anhu muridin

⁶Faqad kaz zabu fasayatihim ambau ma kanu bihi yastahzi un

⁷Do they not look at the earth how many noble things of all kinds we have produced therein?²

⁸Verily, in this is a sign: but most of them do not believe.

⁹And verily, your Lord is He the exalted in might, most merciful.

¹⁰And behold your Lord called Moses: “Go to the people of iniquity

¹¹“The people of Pharaoh: will they not fear Allah?”

¹²He said: “O my Lord! I do fear that they will charge me with falsehood:

¹³“My breast will be straitened and my speech may not go smoothly: so send unto Aaron.³

¹⁴“And they have a charge of crime against me; and I fear they may slay me.”

¹⁵Allah said: “By no means! proceed then both of you with Our signs; We are with you and will listen.

⁷Awa lam yarau ilal ardi kam ambatna fiha min kul li zaujin karim

⁸Inna fi zalika la ayah wa ma kana aksaruhum muminin

⁹Wa inna rabbaka lahuwal azizur rahim

¹⁰Wa iz nada rabbuka Musa anitil qaumaz zalimin

¹¹Qauma Firaun ala yattaqun

¹²Qala rabbi in ni akhafu ayyukaz zibun

¹³Wa yadiqu sadri wa la yantaliqu lisani fa arsil ila Harun

¹⁴Wa lahum alay ya zambun fa akhafu ay yaqtulun

¹⁵Qala kalla faz haba bi ayatina inna maakum mustamiun

¹⁶“So go forth both of you to Pharaoh and say: `We have been sent by the Lord of the Worlds;

¹⁷“`Send with us the Children of Israel.’”

¹⁸He said: “Did we not cherish you as a child among us and did you not stay in our midst many years of your life?

¹⁹“And you did a deed of which you know you did and you are an ungrateful wretch!”

²⁰He said: “I did it then when I was in error.

²¹“So I fled from you when I feared you; but my Lord has invested me with judgment and appointed me as one of the apostles.

²²“And this is the favor with which you reproach me that you have enslaved the Children of Israel”

²³Pharaoh said: “And what is the `Lord of the worlds?’”

¹⁶Fatiya Firauna faqula in na rasulu rabbil alamin

¹⁷An arsil maana bani Israil

¹⁸Qala alam nurab bika fina walidaw wa labista fina min umurika sinin

¹⁹Wa faalta falatakal lati faalta wa anta minal kafirin

²⁰Qala faaltuha izaw wa ama minad dal lin

²¹Fafarartu minkum lam ma hiftukum fawahaba li rabbi hukmaw wa jaalani minal mursalin

²²Wa tilka nimatun tamun nuha alayya an abbat ta bani Israil

²³Qala Firaunu wa ma rabbul alamin

²⁴He said: “The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all between if you want to be quite sure.”

²⁵He said to those around: “Do you not listen to what he says?”

²⁶He said: “Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers from the beginning!”

²⁷He said: “Truly, your apostle who has been sent to you is a veritable madman!”

²⁸(Moses) said: “Lord of the East and the West and all between! If you only had sense!”

²⁹He said: “If you put forward any god other than me I will certainly put you in prison!”

³⁰He said: “Even if I showed you something clear and convincing?”

³¹He said: “Show it then if you tell the truth!”

³²So he threw his rod and behold it was a serpent plain for all to see!

²⁴Qala rabbus samawati wal ardi wa ma bainahuma in kuntum muqinin

²⁵Qala liman haulahu ala tastamiun

²⁶Qala rabbukum wa rabbu abai kumul aw walin

²⁷Qala inna rasulakumul lazi ursila ilaikum lamajnun

²⁸Qala rabbul masriqi wal magribi wa ma bainahuma in kuntum ta qilun

²⁹Qala la init tahazta ilahan gairi la ajalan naka minal masjunin

³⁰Qala awalau jituka bisai im mubin

³¹Qala fati bihi in kunta minas sadiqin

³²Fa alqa asahu fa iza hiya subanum mubin

³³And he drew out his hand and behold it was white to all beholders!

³⁴He said to the chiefs around him: “This is indeed a sorcerer well versed:

³⁵“His plan is to get you out of your land by his sorcery; then what is it you counsel?”

³⁶They said: “Keep him and his brother in suspense and dispatch to the cities heralds to collect.

³⁷“And bring up to you all our sorcerers well versed.”

³⁸So the sorcerers were got together for the appointment of a day well known

³⁹And the people were told: “Are you assembled?

⁴⁰“That we may follow the sorcerers if they win?”

³³Wa nazaa yadahu fa iza hiya baidau lin nazirin

³⁴Qala lilmalai haulahu in na haza lasahirun alim

³⁵Yuridu ay yuhrijakum min ardikum bisihrih famaza tamurun

³⁶Qalu arjih wa ahahu wab as fil mada ini hasirin

³⁷Yatuka bikul li sah barin alim

³⁸Fajumi as saharatu limiqati yaumim malum

³⁹Wa qila lin nasi hal antum mujtamiun

⁴⁰Laal lana natabiu saharata inkanu humul galibin

⁴¹So when the sorcerers arrived they said to Pharaoh: “Of course shall we have a reward if we win?”

⁴²He said: “Yea, and more for you shall in that case be raised to posts nearest.”

⁴³Moses said to them: “Throw you that which you are about to throw!”

⁴⁴So they threw their ropes and their rods and said: “By the might of Pharaoh it is we who will certainly win!”

⁴⁵Then Moses threw his rod when behold, it straightway swallows up all the falsehoods which they fake!

⁴⁶Then did the sorcerers fall down prostrate in adoration.

⁴⁷Saying: “We believe in the Lord of the worlds.

⁴⁸“The Lord of Moses and Aaron.”

⁴¹Falam ma ja as saharatu qalu liFirauna a inna lana la ajran inkunna nahnul galibin

⁴²Qala naam wa innakum izallaminal muqar rabin

⁴³Qala lahum Musa alqu ma antum mulqun

⁴⁴Fa alqau hibalahum wa ishiy yahum wa qalu biiz zati Firauna inna lanahnul galibun

⁴⁵Fa alqa Musa asahu fa iza hiya talqafu ma yafikun

⁴⁶Fa ulqiyas saharatu sajidin

⁴⁷Qalu aman na birab bil alamin

⁴⁸Rabbi Musa wa Harun

⁴⁹Said Pharaoh: “believe in him before I give you permission? Surely he is your leader who has taught you sorcery! But soon shall you know! “But sure I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides and I will cause you all to die on the cross!”

⁵⁰They said: “No matter! for us we shall but return to our Lord!

⁵¹“Only our desire is that our Lord will forgive us our faults that we may become foremost among the believers!”⁴

⁵²And by inspiration We told Moses: “Travel by night with My servants; for surely you shall be pursued.”

⁵³Then Pharaoh sent heralds to all the cities.

⁵⁴Saying: “These are but a small band.

⁵⁵“And they are raging furiously against us;

⁵⁶“But we are a multitude amply fore warned.”

⁴⁹Qala amantum lahu qabla an azana lakum in nahu lakabirukumul lazi al lamakumus sihr falasaufa talamun la uqat ti an na aidiyakum wa arjulakum min hilaliw wa la usal liban nakum ajmain

⁵⁰Qalu la daira inna ila rabbina munqalibun

⁵¹Inna natmau ay yagfira lana rabbuna hatayana ankunna awwalal muminin

⁵²Wa auhaina ila Musa an asri bi ibadi innakum mut tabaun

⁵³Fa arsala firaunu fil mada ini hasirin

⁵⁴Inna ha ulai lasyirzimatun qalilun

⁵⁵Wa innahum lana laga izun

⁵⁶Wa inna lajamiun hazirun

4. The sorcerers of Pharaoh continued to challenge God up to when all the first born males in Egypt died. After this they had a temporal change of heart, out of frustration, to let the Israelites go. As soon as they were gone, Pharaoh and his men decided against their departure and took to pursuing the Jews when they were drowned in the Red Sea (Exodus 13:15‑17, 14:9‑30). The sorcerers rejected and their counsel led to the destruction of the Egyptians.

⁵⁷So We expelled them from gardens springs

⁵⁸And treasures and every kind of honorable position;

⁵⁹Thus it was but We made the Children of Israel inheritors of such things.

⁶⁰So they pursued them at sunrise.

⁶¹And when the two bodies saw each other the people of Moses said: “We are sure to be overtaken.”

⁶²He said: “By no means! my Lord is with me! Soon will He guide me!

⁶³Then We told Moses by inspiration: “Strike the sea with your rod.” So it divided and each separate part become like the huge firm mass of a mountain.

⁶⁴And We made the other party approach thither.

⁶⁵And We delivered Moses and all who were with him;

⁶⁶But We drowned the others.

⁵⁷Fa akrajnahum min jannatiw wauyun

⁵⁸Wa kunuziw wa maqamin karim

⁵⁹Kazalik wa auratnaha bani Israil

⁶⁰Fa atbauhum musriqin

⁶¹Falam ma tara al jamani qala ashabu Musa in na lamudraku

⁶²Qala kal la in na maiya rab bi sayahdin

⁶³Fa auhaina ila Musa anidrib biasakal bar fanfalaqa fa kana kul lu firwin kat taudil azim

⁶⁴Wa azlafna sam mal aharin

⁶⁵Wa anjaina Musa wa mam maahu ajmain

⁶⁶Summa agraqnal aharin

⁶⁷Verily, in this is a sign: but most of them do not believe.

⁶⁸And verily, your Lord is He, the exalted in might, most merciful.

⁶⁹And rehearse to them Abraham’s story.

⁷⁰Behold, he said to his father and his people: “What do you worship?”

⁷¹They said: “We worship idols and we remain constantly in attendance on them.”⁵

⁷²He said: “Do they listen to you when ye call?

⁷³“Or do you good or harm?”

⁷⁴They said: “Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus.”

⁷⁵He said: “Do you then see whom you have been worshiping?”

⁷⁶“You and your fathers before you?”

⁷⁷“For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord of the worlds;

⁶⁷Inna fi zalika la ayah wa ma kana aksarahum muminin

⁶⁸Wa inna rabbaka lahuwal azizur rahim

⁶⁹Watlu alaihim naba a Ibrahim

⁷⁰Iz qala li abihi wa qaumihi ma tabudun

⁷¹Qalu nabudu asnaman fan azalu laha akifin

⁷²Qala hal yasmaunakum iz tadun

⁷³Au yanfaunakum au yadur run

⁷⁴Qalu bal wajadna aba ana kazalika yafalun

⁷⁵Qala afara aitum ma kuntum tabudun

⁷⁶Antum wa aba ukumul aqdamun

⁷⁷Fa in nahum aduw wul li il la rabbal alamin

5. The difference in the Qur’anic references to stories is that it adds to it as it goes, therefore, each time a story is told, something completely different is seen. Whereas aside of the Synoptic Gospels which gives different sides to the story of the life and ministry of Jesus, all others are systematic. If any mention is made of a Patriarch or other personalities of the Bible most often they are quotation from their stories and not an entirely new story as we read in the Qur’an.106 Behold their brother Noah said to them: “Will ye not fear Allah?

⁷⁸“Who created me and it is He who guides me;

⁷⁹“Who gives me food and drink.

⁸⁰“And when I am ill, it is He who cures me.

⁸¹“Who will cause me to die and then to live again.

⁸²“And who I hope will forgive me my faults on the day of judgment.

⁸³O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me and join me with the righteous;

⁸⁴“Grant me honorable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest generations;

⁸⁵“Make me one of the inheritors of the garden of bliss.

⁸⁶“Forgive my father for that he is among those astray.

⁸⁷“And let me not be in disgrace on the day when men will be raised up.

⁸⁸The day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail.

⁷⁸Al lazi halaqani fahuwa yahdin

⁷⁹Wal lazi huwa yutimuni wa yasqin

⁸⁰Wa iza maridtu fahuwa yasfin

⁸¹Wal lazi yumituni sum ma yuhyin

⁸²Wal lazi atmau ayyagfira li hati ati yaumad din

⁸³Rabbi hab li hukmaw wa alhiqni bis salihin

⁸⁴Wajal li lisana sidqin fil akhirin

⁸⁵Wajalni miw warasati jan natin naim

⁸⁶Wagfir li abi innahu kana minad dal lin

⁸⁷Wa la tuhzini yauma yubasun

⁸⁸Yauma la yanfau maluw wa la banun

⁸⁹“But only he will prosper that brings to Allah a sound heart.

⁹⁰“And to the righteous the garden will be brought near.

⁹¹“And to those straying in evil the fire will be placed in full view.

⁹²“And it shall be said to them: `Where are the gods you worshiped;

⁹³Besides Allah?” Can they help you or help themselves?’

⁹⁴“Then they will be thrown headlong into the fire, they and those straying in evil.

⁹⁵“And the whole hosts of Iblis together.

⁹⁶“They will say there in their mutual bickerings:

⁹⁷“By Allah we were truly in an error manifest.”

⁹⁸“When we held you as equals with the Lord of the worlds;

⁹⁹“And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt.

¹⁰⁰“Now then we have none to intercede for us.”

⁸⁹Il la man atal laha biqalbin salim

⁹⁰Wa uzlifatil jan natu lilmut taqin

⁹¹Wa bur rizatil jahimu lilgawin

⁹²Wa qila lahum ainama kuntum tabudun

⁹³Min dunil lah hal yansurunakum au yantasirun

⁹⁴Fakubkibu fiha hum wal gawun

⁹⁵Wa junudu iblisa ajmaun

⁹⁶Qalu wa hum fiha yahtasimun

⁹⁷Tal lahi in kun na lafi dalalim mubin

⁹⁸Iz nusaw wikum birab bil alamin

⁹⁹Wa ma adal lana il lal mujrimun

¹⁰⁰Fama lana min safiin

¹⁰¹“And not a single friend to feel for us.”

¹⁰²“Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!’ “

¹⁰³Verily, in this is a sign but most of them do not believe.

¹⁰⁴And verily, the Lord is He, the exalted in might, most merciful.

¹⁰⁵The people of Noah rejected the apostles.

¹⁰⁶Behold, their brother Noah said to them: “Will you not fear Allah?

¹⁰⁷“I am to you an apostle worthy of all trust:

¹⁰⁸“So fear Allah and obey me.

¹⁰⁹“And no reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the worlds:

¹¹⁰“So fear Allah and obey me.”

¹¹¹They said: “Shall we believe in you when it is the meanest that follow you?”

¹⁰¹Wa la sadiqin hamim

¹⁰²Falau an na lana kar ratan fanakuna minal muminin

¹⁰³Inna fi zalika la ayah wa ma kana aksaruhum muminin

¹⁰⁴Wa in na Rabbaka lahuwal azizur rahim

¹⁰⁵Kaz zabat qaumu Nuhinil mursalin

¹⁰⁶Iz qala lahum akhuhum Nuhun ala tat taqun

¹⁰⁷In ni lakum rasulun amin

¹⁰⁸Fat taqul laha wa atiun

¹⁰⁹Wa ma as alukum alaihi min ajr in ajriya illa ala rabbil alamin

¹¹⁰Fat taqul laha wa atiun

¹¹¹Qalu anuminu laka wat tabaakal arzalun

¹¹²He said: “And what do I know as to what they do?

¹¹³“Their account is only with my Lord if ye could understand.

¹¹⁴“And I am not one to drive away those who believe.”

¹¹⁵“I am sent only to warn plainly in public.”

¹¹⁶They said: “If you desist not, O Noah! You shall be stoned to death.”

¹¹⁷He said: “O my Lord! truly my people have rejected me.

¹¹⁸“Judge then between me and them openly and deliver me and those of the believers who are with me.”⁶

¹¹⁹So we delivered him and those with him in the Ark filled with all creatures.

¹²⁰Thereafter We drowned those who remained behind.

¹¹²Qala wa ma ilmi bima kanu yamalun

¹¹³In hisabuhum il la ala rabbi lau tasurun

¹¹⁴Wa ma ana bitharidil muminin

¹¹⁵In ana illa nazirum mubin

¹¹⁶Qalu la il lam tantahi yanuhu la takunan na minal marjumin

¹¹⁷Qala Rabbi in na qaumi kaz zabun

¹¹⁸Faftah baini wa bainahum fat hawa naj jini wa mam maiya minal muminin

¹¹⁹Fa anjainahu wa mam maahu fil fulkil masun

¹²⁰Summa agraqna badul baqin

6. Who were those with Noah besides his wife and three sons and their wives. Therefore, in all, there were eight people, four men and four women. Beside this number, there is no further mention of any others who believed and became part of Noah’s group.

¹²⁴Behold their brother Hud said to them: “Will you not fear Allah?

¹²⁵“I am to you an apostle worthy of all trust.

¹²⁶“So fear Allah and obey me.

¹²⁷“No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the worlds.

¹²⁸“Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves?

¹²⁹“And do you get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein forever?

¹³⁰“And when you exert your strong hand do you do it like men of absolute power?

¹³¹“Now fear Allah and obey me.

¹²¹Inna fi zalika la ayah wa ma kana aksaruhum muminin

¹²²Wa in na rabbaka lahuwal azizur rahim

¹²³Kaz zabat Adunil mursalin

¹²⁴Iz qala lahum ahuhum hudun ala tat taqun

¹²⁵Inni lakum rasulun amin

¹²⁶Fat taqul laha wa atiun

¹²⁷Wa ma as alukum alaihi min ajr in ajriya ila ala rabbil alamin

¹²⁸Atabnuna bikul li riin ayatan tabasun

¹²⁹Wa tat tahizuna masania laal lakum tahludun

¹³⁰Wa iza batastum batastum jabarin

¹³¹Fat taqul laha wa atiun

¹³²“Yea, fear Him who has bestowed on you freely all that you know.

¹³³“Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons.

¹³⁴And gardens and springs.

¹³⁵“Truly, I fear for you the penalty of a great day.”

¹³⁶They said: “It is the same to us whether you admonish us or be not among our admonishers!

¹³⁷“This is no other than a customary device of the ancients.

¹³⁸“And we are not the ones to receive pains and penalties!”

¹³⁹So they rejected him and We destroyed them, verily, in this is a sign: but most of them do not believe.

¹⁴⁰And verily, your Lord is He, the exalted in might, most merciful.

¹⁴¹The people of Thamud rejected the apostles.

¹³²Wat taqul lazi amad dakum bima tamalun

¹³³Amad dakum bi an amiw wa banin

¹³⁴Wa jan natiw wa uyun

¹³⁵In ni akhafu alaikum azaba yaumin azim

¹³⁶Qalu sawa un alaina awa azta am lam takum minal waizin

¹³⁷In haza il la huluqul aw walin

¹³⁸Wa ma nahnu bimuaz zabin

¹³⁹Fakaz zabuhu fa ahlaknahum inna fi zalika la ayah wa ma kana aksaruhum muminin

¹⁴⁰Wa inna rabbaka lahuwal azizur rahim

¹⁴¹Kaz zabat Samudul mursalin

¹⁴²Behold their brother Salih said to them: “Will you fear Allah?

¹⁴³“I am to you an apostle worthy of all trust.

¹⁴⁴“So fear Allah and obey me.

¹⁴⁵“And no reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the worlds.

¹⁴⁶“Will you be left secure in the enjoyment of all that you have here?

¹⁴⁷“Gardens and springs.

¹⁴⁸“And cornfields and date palms with spathes near breaking?

¹⁴⁹“And you carve house out of mountains with great skill.

¹⁵⁰“But fear Allah and obey me;

¹⁵¹“And follow not the bidding of those who are extravagant

¹⁵²“Who make mischief in the land and mend not.”

¹⁴²Iz qala lahum ahuhum Salihun ala tat taqun

¹⁴³Inni lakum rasulun amin

¹⁴⁴Fat taqul laha wa atiun

¹⁴⁵Wa ma as alukum alaihi min ajr in ajriya il la ala Rabbil alamin

¹⁴⁶Atutrakuna fi ma hahuna aminin

¹⁴⁷Fi jan natiw wa uyun

¹⁴⁸Wa zuruiw wa nahlin taluha hadim

¹⁴⁹Wa tanhituna minal jibali buyutan farihin

¹⁵⁰Fat taqul laha wa qtiun

¹⁵¹Wa la tutiu amral musrifin

¹⁵²Al lazina yufsiduna fil ardi wa la yuslihun

¹⁵³They said: “You are only of those bewitched!

¹⁵⁴“You are no more than a mortal like us: then bring us a sign if you tell the truth!”

¹⁵⁵He said: “Here is a she camel: she has a right of watering and you have a right of watering on a day appointed.

¹⁵⁶“And touch her not with harm lest the penalty of a great day seize you.”

¹⁵⁷But they hamstrung her: then did they become full of regrets.

¹⁵⁸But the penalty seized them. Verily, in this is a sign: but most of them do not believe.

¹⁵⁹And verily, your Lord is He, the exalted in might, most merciful.

¹⁶⁰The people of Lut rejected the apostles.

¹⁶¹Behold their brother Lut said to them: “Will you not fear Allah?

¹⁵³Qalu innama anta minal musaharin

¹⁵⁴Ma anta il la basarum mitluna fati bi ayatin in kunta minas sadiqin

¹⁵⁵Qala hazihi naqatul laha sirbuw wa lakum sirbu yaumim malum

¹⁵⁶Wa la tamas suha bisu in fayahuzakum azabu yaumin azim

¹⁵⁷Faaqaruha fa asbahu nadimin

¹⁵⁸Fa akhazahumul azab inna fi zalika la ayah wa ma kana aksaruhum muminin

¹⁵⁹Wa in na rabbaka lahuwal azizur rahim

¹⁶⁰Kaz zabat qaumu Lutinil mursalin

¹⁶¹Iz qala lahum ahuhum Lutun ala tat taqun

¹⁶²“I am to you an apostle worthy of all trust.

¹⁶³“So fear Allah and obey me.

¹⁶⁴“And no reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the worlds.

¹⁶⁵“Of all the creatures in the world will you approach males?”

¹⁶⁶“And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your mates? Nay, you are a people transgressing all limits!”

¹⁶⁷They said: “If you desist not, O Lot! you will assuredly be cast out!”

¹⁶⁸He said: “I do detest your doings.”

¹⁶⁹“O my Lord! deliver me and my family from such things as they do!”

¹⁷⁰So We delivered him and his family.

¹⁷¹Except an old woman who lingered behind.

¹⁶²Inni lakum rasulun amin

¹⁶³Fat taqul laha wa atiun

¹⁶⁴Wa ma as alukum alaihi min ajr in ajriya il la ala rabbil alamin

¹⁶⁵Atatunaz zukrana minal alamin

¹⁶⁶Wa tazaruna ma halaqa lakum rab bukum min azwajikum bal antum qaumun adun

¹⁶⁷Qalu la il lam tantahi yaLutu latakunan na minal muhrajin

¹⁶⁸Qala inni liamalikum minal qalin

¹⁶⁹Rab bi naj jini wa ahli mim ma yamalun

¹⁷⁰Fanaj jainahu wa ahlahu ajmain

¹⁷¹Illa ajuzan fil gabirin

¹⁷²But the rest We destroyed utterly.

¹⁷³And We rained down on them a shower of brimstone: and evil was the shower on those who were admonished but heeded not!

¹⁷⁴Verily, in this is a sign: but most of them do not believe.

¹⁷⁵And verily, your Lord is He, the exalted in might, most merciful.

¹⁷⁶The companions of the Wood rejected the apostles.

¹⁷⁷Behold Shuaib said to them: “Will you not fear Allah?

¹⁷⁸“I am to you an apostle worthy of all trust.

¹⁷⁹“So fear Allah and obey me.

¹⁸⁰“And no reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the worlds.

¹⁸¹“Give just measure and cause no loss to others by fraud.

¹⁷²Summa dam mamal aharin

¹⁷³Wa mtama alaihim matara fasa a matarul munzarin

¹⁷⁴Inna fi zalika la ayah wa ma kana aksaruhum muminin

¹⁷⁵Wa inna rabbaka lahuwal azizur rahim

¹⁷⁶Kaz zaba ashabul aikatil mursalin

¹⁷⁷Iz qala lahum suaibun ala tat taqun

¹⁷⁸Inni lakum rasulun amin

¹⁷⁹Fat taqul laha wa atiun

¹⁸⁰Wa ma as alukum alaihi min ajr in ajriya illa ala rabbil alamin

¹⁸¹Auful kaila wa la takunu minal muhsirin

¹⁸²“And weigh with scales true and upright.

¹⁸³“And withhold not things justly due to men nor do evil in the land working mischief.

¹⁸⁴“And fear Him who created you and the generations before.

¹⁸⁵They said: “You are only one of those bewitched!

¹⁸⁶“You are no more than a mortal like us and indeed we think you are a liar!

¹⁸⁷“Now cause a piece of the sky to fall on us if you are truthful!”

¹⁸⁸He said: “My Lord knows best what you do.”

¹⁸⁹But they rejected him. Then the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom seized them and that was the penalty of a great day.

¹⁸²Wa zinu bil qistasil mustaqim

¹⁸³Wa la tabhasun nasa asya ahum wa la tasau fi ardi mufsidin

¹⁸⁴Wat taqul lazi halaqakum wal jibilatal aw walin

¹⁸⁵Qalu innama anta minal musaharin

¹⁸⁶Wa ma anta il la basarum mitsluna wa in nazun nuka laminal kazibin

¹⁸⁷Fa asqit alaina kisalam minas samai in kunta minas sadiqin

¹⁸⁸Qala rabbi alamu bima tamalun

¹⁸⁹Fakaz zabuhu fa ahazahum azabu yaumiz zul lah in nahu kana azaba yaumin azim

¹⁹⁰Verily, in that is a sign: but most of them do not believe.

¹⁹¹And verily, your Lord is He, the exalted in might, most merciful.

¹⁹²Verily, this is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds:

¹⁹³With it came down the Spirit of faith and truth.

¹⁹⁴To your heart and mind that you may admonish.

¹⁹⁵In the perspicuous Arabic tongue.

¹⁹⁶And without doubt it is in the mystic books of former peoples.

¹⁹⁷Is it not a sign to them that the learned of the Children of Israel knew it?

¹⁹⁸And had We revealed it to any of the non Arabs.

¹⁹⁹And had he recited it to them they would not have believed in it.

²⁰⁰Thus have We caused it to enter the hearts of the sinners.

¹⁹⁰Inna fi zalika la ayatan wa ma kana aksaruhum muminin

¹⁹¹Wa inna rabbaka lahuwal azizur rahim

¹⁹²Wa innahu latanzilu rabbil alamin

¹⁹³Nazala bihir ruhul amin

¹⁹⁴Ala qalbika litakuna minal munzirin

¹⁹⁵Bilisanin arabiy yim mubin

¹⁹⁶Wa in nahu lafi zuburil aw walin

¹⁹⁷Awalam yakul lahum ayatan ay yalamahu ulama u bani Israil

¹⁹⁸Wa lau naz zalnahu ala badil ajamin

¹⁹⁹Faqara ahu alaihim ma kanu bihi muminin

²⁰⁰Kazalika salaknahu fi qulubil mujrimin

²⁰¹They will not believe in it until they see the grievous penalty;

²⁰²But the penalty will come to them of a sudden while they perceive it not;

²⁰³Then they will say: “Shall we be respited?”

²⁰⁴Do they then ask for Our penalty to be hastened on?

²⁰⁵Do you see? If We do let them enjoy this life for a few years

²⁰⁶Yet there comes to them at length the punishment which they were promised!

²⁰⁷It will profit them not that they enjoyed this life!

²⁰⁸Never did We destroy a population but had its warners

²⁰⁹By way of reminder; and We never are unjust.

²¹⁰No evil ones have brought down this:

²¹¹And it would neither suit them nor would they be able.

²⁰¹La yuminuna bihi hat ta yarawul azabal alim

²⁰²Fayatiyahum bagtataw wa hum la yasurun

²⁰³Fayaqulu hal nahnu munzarun

²⁰⁴Afabiazabina yastajilun

²⁰⁵Afara aita im mat tanahum sinin

²⁰⁶Summa ja ahum ma kanu yuadun

²⁰⁷Ma agna anhum ma kanu yumat taun

²⁰⁸Wa ma ahlakna min qaryatin il la laha munzirun

²⁰⁹Zikra wa ma kun na zalimin

²¹⁰Wa ma tanaz zalat bihis sayatin

²¹¹Wa ma yan bagi lahum wa ma yastatiun

²¹²Indeed they have been removed far from even a chance of hearing it.

²¹³So call not on any other god with Allah or you will be among those under the penalty.

²¹⁴And admonish your nearest kinsmen.⁷

²¹⁵And lower your wing to the believers who follow you.⁸

²¹⁶Then if they disobey you say: “I am free of what you do!”⁹

²¹⁷And put your trust on the exalted in might, the merciful

²¹⁸Who sees you standing forth.

²¹⁹And your movements among those who prostrate themselves.

²²⁰For it is He who hears and knows all things.

²²¹Shall I inform you on whom it is that the evil ones descend?

²²²They descend on every lying wicked person

²¹²Innahum anis sami lamazulun

²¹³Fala tadu maal lahi ilahan akhra fatakuna minal muaz zabin

²¹⁴Wa anzir asiratakal aqrabin

²¹⁵Wahfid janahaka limanit tabaaka minal muminin

²¹⁶Fa in ashauka faqul inni bari ummim ma tamalun

²¹⁷Wa tawak kal alal azizir rahim

²¹⁸Al lazi yaraka hina taqum

²¹⁹Wa taqal lubaka fis sajidin

²²⁰Innahu huwas samiul alim

²²¹Hal unab bi ukum ala man tanaz zalus sayatin

²²²Tanaz zalu ala kuli af fakin asim

7. When Muhammad received this verse, he had no assurance for any of his family members regarding their salvation. Not even a verse that may be helpful towards their salvation. All he could offer them was of his worldly belongings. According to Sahih Muslim Hadith’s 401 narrated by Aisha;

When this verse was revealed: “And warn thy nearest kindred,” the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) stood up on Safa’ and said: O Fatimah, daughter of Muhammad, O Safiyyah, daughter of Abdul Muttalib, O son of Abdul Muttalib, I have nothing which can avail you against Allah; you may ask me what you want of my worldly belongings.

8. Furthermore Allah told him to be gentle and tenderhearted towards the believers. When Jesus knew His time was near He told His disciples:

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. There are many rooms in my Father's house. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going away to prepare a place for you? And if I am going away to

prepare a place for you, I will come again and will welcome you into my presence, so that you may be where I am. You know where I am going, and you know the way."

Later after the Apostle Paul had labored and near the end of his time, he could say with certainty in 2 Timothy 4:6‑8;

For I am already being poured out as an offering, and the time for my departure has come. I have fought the good fight. I have completed the race. I have kept the faith. The victor's crown of righteousness is now waiting for me, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who eagerly wait for his appearing.

Muhammad, on the other hand, was told to say that he does not know what will be done with him in the hereafter (Qur’an 46:9).

9. A True Prophet is one who is willing to die for his flock. He assumes responsibility for the actions of his followers and makes the appropriate intercession for them. Moses could argue with God on behalf of the obstinate and rebellious Jews that God should forgive them their sins or erase his name from the Book of life. Exodus 32:32: “But now, if you will forgive their sin--but if not, please blot me out of your book that you have written.” Ultimately, every soul bears his or her own responsibility. But it is always good to know that your leader is willing to die for you. Jesus laid down His life for us.

²²³They pour hearsay, vanities, and most of them are liars.

²²⁴And the poets, it is those straying in evil who follow them:

²²⁵Do you not see that they wander distracted in every valley?

²²⁶And that they say what they practice not?

²²⁷Except those who believe work righteousness engage much in the remembrance of Allah and defend themselves only after they are unjustly attacked. And soon will the unjust assailants know what vicissitudes their affairs will take!

²²³Yulqunas sama wa aksaruhum kazibun

²²⁴Was suarau yat tabi uhumul gawun

²²⁵Alam tara annahum fi kulli wadiy yahimun

²²⁶Wa annahum yaquluna ma la yafalun

²²⁷Illal lazina amanu wa amilus salihati wa zakarul laha katsiraw wantasaru min badi ma zulimu wa sayalamul lazina zalamu ayya mun qalabiy yanqalibun
